The Honorable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to restructure the Education sector across the country, with a view to making the sector a major mechanism for the socio economic development of Nigeria.
The Hon. Minister of Education who was represented by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Anwukah, at the inauguration and retreat for members of the governing councils of Federal Colleges of Education, at the Ukeje Conference Hall of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, (NCCE), Secretariat, Abuja, said, the move towards restructuring the nation’s Education sector will start from the basics.
According to him, “the Federal Government has concluded arrangements to start the process of disengaging teachers who are presently teaching in our schools without being registered, certified and Licensed by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, (TRCN), from our schools. We are determined to strengthen the Education system by ensuring that only TRCN licensed teachers are allowed to practice across the country.” The implementation of this policy, he added, would not be later than January 2018.
The Registrar/Chief Executive, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria was represented at the event by the TRCN’s Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Emmanuel Onyia.
