Welcoming the representatives of the consultancy firm that handled the TRCN Test Development Project 2016/2017 in his office in Abuja on Monday, February 6th 2017, the TRCN scribe said the entire project was a Federal Government Job and the Council was just standing in for government because the Council is directly in charge of the project. He stressed that the expectation of the Council was a ‘Test Item’ that can stand the test of time.
Ajiboye noted that the Company that handled the project, ‘Nana & Trad. Mega Logistics’ was submitting its reports 2 weeks ahead of the 8 weeks given to complete the work. He added that the team of seasoned scholars was inaugurated on December 21, 2017 from the Faculties and Institutes of Education in Universities and Colleges of Education across the Country to superintend the process.
In his handover speech, the Coordinator of the Project, Prof. Steve Nwokeocha, thanked the Council for the opportunity given them to serve. He noted that the team executed its assignment conscientiously, and the team successfully developed 3,092 test items instead of the proposed 1, 840 test items indicating additional 1, 252 test items. The test Items, he said were distributed in four categories which are: A – 742 Test Items; B – 723 Test Items; C – 720 Test Items; and D – 907 Test Items.
He stated that every aspect of the test development process from test construction through moderation, pilot testing and validation was weighed critically and the best options were utilized. His words, “The team took every necessary step to protect the integrity of the test items, to avoid the possibility of leakages.” The items, he added, were developed using table of specification for each module and category to ensure content validity and coverage.
